Tuition rates are the foundation everything else in billing is built on. A rate is simply a named base price — what a given kind of enrollment costs before any discounts or payment schedules come into play. Get these in place first, and building tuition plans later becomes a matter of picking a rate rather than typing in numbers. This guide covers creating and managing them.
Open Billing from the left sidebar and select the Tuition Rates tab. At the top you'll see the heading Tuition Rates with the reminder that this is where you "set the base rates for your tuition plans." Any rates you've already created for the selected school year appear in a table showing each rate's name and amount.
Because rates belong to a school year, make sure the school-year selector at the top of the Billing page is set to the year you're building before you add anything.
Select Add Rate to open the rate form, then fill in two fields:
5000.00). This is the full-year figure for this rate; payment plans decide later how it's split into installments.Save, and the rate joins the table, ready to use.
Tip: Think of rates as your price list, not a per-family bill. Create one rate for each distinct price point your school offers — a standard tuition, a reduced rate, a part-time option — rather than a separate rate for every student. You'll apply the same handful of rates across many families.
To change a rate, select its row in the table. The same form opens with the current values filled in, so you can update the name or amount and save. This is handy when you set your prices for a new school year and want to adjust last year's figures.
When you create or edit a rate, you'll see an option to exclude it from multi-student discounts. This matters if you offer a school-wide sibling discount (covered in the next guide). Any rate you mark as excluded won't be reduced by that discount.
Use it for rates that are already discounted or shouldn't stack — for instance, if your Sibling Rate is itself a reduced price, you'd exclude it so a family doesn't receive the sibling discount on top of an already-lowered rate. Most standard rates are left included.
Note: Excluding a rate only affects the automatic multi-student discount. It has no effect on one-off discounts like a scholarship, which you apply deliberately to a specific student and which always apply regardless of this setting.
