The Households page is where you look people up, so it pays to know your way around it. This guide covers the two tabs, the filters and search that help you find the right person, and how to add a new student or guardian.
Open Households from the left sidebar. The page header reads Households — Manage all of your students and families, and just below it are two tabs: Enrolled Students and Everyone. Whichever tab you're on, the screen is split into two columns: a list on the left and a detail panel on the right. Select something in the list, and its details fill the panel.
The Everyone tab is your complete directory — every guardian and student in your organization, enrolled or not. Use it whenever you want to find a specific person and see their full picture.
The left column is titled Everyone and lists people you can scroll through, each showing their name and the household they belong to. Selecting a person opens their household in the detail panel on the right, with that person's tab already active. (The detail panel is covered in depth in Guardian & Student Profiles.)
To narrow a long list, you have three tools stacked at the top of the panel:
Combine these to zero in fast — for example, set the type to Students and the status to Waitlisted to see just the students on your waitlist.
Tip: When you open the Everyone tab without anyone selected, Lazarus automatically selects the first person alphabetically so the detail panel is never empty. Just start typing in the Filter box or click a name to jump to who you actually want.
The Enrolled Students tab is a focused roster: only students who are actively enrolled for a school year, each shown with their tuition plan status. This is the view to use when you're managing tuition rather than looking up a family.
The left column lists your enrolled students with a tuition plan status badge on each, and you can search the list by name. Selecting a student opens their enrollment and tuition plan detail on the right. This tab is covered fully in Enrolled Students & Billing.
The difference between the tabs is scope: Everyone shows every person regardless of status, while Enrolled Students shows only the enrolled roster with tuition front and center.
You don't have to wait for an application to add someone — you can create people directly. On the Everyone tab, the list header has actions for New student and New guardian. Choose one, fill in the form, and the person is added to your organization.
When you add a student, you can link them to their guardian(s) on the form; when you add a guardian, you can attach them to a household. Those links are what place the person into the right household — Lazarus takes care of the grouping automatically. You can also add a guardian or student from directly inside a household using the Add guardian and Add student actions in the detail panel, which is often more convenient when you're already looking at the family.
Note: Most families arrive through enrollment applications, which create their guardians and students for you. Adding people by hand is there for the cases applications don't cover — a mid-year addition, a sibling, or a family you're setting up manually.
The people and households you see are loaded when you open the page. If you've just made a change elsewhere — accepted an application, added a guardian — and don't see it reflected yet, refreshing the list pulls the latest data so the directory stays current.
Now that you can find and add people, the next guide explains how households actually come together behind the scenes.
