Add Your Branding
Make your account feel like your school. The settings section helps personalize your Lazarus environment with your school’s information, terminology, and visuals. This includes your logo, organization name, primary contact info, and more. These changes help ensure consistency throughout the platform — including in family-facing materials like invoices, portals, and emails.
This section is accessed when you click “Add Your Branding” from the Welcome Page onboarding flow. That link opens the Settings area, which is divided into three tabs:
- Profile Settings
- General Settings
- Financial Settings
Below is a walkthrough of each area, what it controls, and how to update it.
🧍♂️ Profile Settings
Update your personal user profile. These changes affect how your name appears within the app and can also help others on your team identify who made changes or sent communications.
Steps:
- You’ll see your initials shown in a circle — click “Change your profile photo” to upload an image. (Recommended for school leaders or support staff who families might engage with.)
- If needed, click “Change your password” to set a new login password for your account.
- Update your First Name and Last Name fields if they need correction.
- Click Save in the lower right to confirm.
ℹ️ Note: These changes only apply to your personal profile, not your school’s global settings.
🏫 General Settings
This is where you set up the foundation for your school’s appearance and structure within the system. These fields impact what families and staff will see when interacting with your school.
✅ School Years
Controls the academic calendar your system operates under.
Steps:
- Click Create to set your school’s year(s) start date and end date.
- The progress bar shows how many days remain in the current year.
- These school years will be associated to enrollment applications and other features as you utilize them.
🔐 Only Admins can create or edit school years.
🏷️ Taxonomy Settings
Customize the labels your school uses to define program structure — this might include grades, groups, or levels.
Steps:
- In Program Taxonomy, enter the overarching label you want to use. (Example: Grade Level or Program Type.)
- Under Description, explain what the label refers to and how it’s used (e.g., “Select the grade level the student is applying for.”)
- In Taxonomy Options, type the actual values separated by commas (e.g., Kindergarten, 1st Grade, 2nd Grade).
🧠 These labels show up throughout the app — including enrollment forms and student records — so choose terms your team and families will recognize.
🏢 Organization Settings
Set up the visible identity of your school. These fields are displayed on invoices, emails, and portal headers.
Steps:
- Click the placeholder image to upload your school’s logo. Square logos work best (recommended: 500x500px or larger).
- Enter your Organization Name exactly as you want it to appear (e.g., Orange Tree School).
- Add your Primary Email (e.g., info@yourschool.edu) — this is where system notifications or parent replies may be routed.
- Add your Primary Phone Number for contact visibility.
- Click Save to lock in the changes.
✅ If you’re onboarding multiple team members, completing this section first ensures they see correct branding when logging in.
💰 Financial Settings
Set your organization’s financial identity. These details are required for tax, invoicing, and reporting purposes.
Steps:
- Select the Financial Settings tab from the sidebar.
- In Tax ID / EIN, enter your federal tax identification number in the format:
XX-XXXXXXX
. - Use the dropdown to set your Tax Status (e.g., 501(c)(3) Nonprofit, Private School, etc.).
- Choose the Start of Fiscal Year based on your accounting cycle (e.g., July 1 or January 1).
💡 These values support proper financial reporting and will help align with billing tools like Stripe integrations.
